Home Stretch

12 October 2011 | Boot Key Harbor, FL
Well the storm system finally passed and I was able to leave Fort Lauderdale on Monday morning. I got up before sunrise and headed out onto the Atlantic. The sunrise revealed a chain of thunderstorms training north over the gulf stream but the bad weather remained off to the east for the entire day. I'm glad because at one point, I counted 3 water spouts forming at the same time.. (I have pics to prove it)

Just like last year, I was able to make Key Largo in one twelve-hour trip. Tuesday morning, I was up early and headed to the fuel dock. After topping off diesel, I headed to Boot Key Harbor on Marathon Key. As I write this, I plan to leave for Key West this morning and hope to be there by mid-afternoon.

Here's a picture of the aforementioned water spouts.
