An Unexpected Meeting...

23 March 2012 | Jacksonville, FL
Mike
Again, I was up and off the dock just after sunrise. The winds were absent for most of the day. I still made decent time and caught the 11:00 AM opening of the Bridge of Lions (a time-restricted draw bridge) in Saint Augustine. As I was approaching the bridge, I passed a blue and white Morgan that I recognized as my friend and former marina-mate "Big Jim" from New Bern, NC.

We had a brief radio conversation where I learned that he was also headed back there for the summer but on a slightly different schedule than me. I also learned that our former marina had been badly damaged by Hurricane Irene. Consequently, he was planning to stay at a different marina. This was news to me and may cause a change in my plans as well.

I continued on to Jacksonville and arrived just ahead of some pretty good thunderstorms. **whew**
