So Many Goodbyes

03 July 2008 | Racine
Mike
Well...things are wrapping up. I'm completely out of my house and have moved onto the boat. Aside from leaving to play my last few shows, I'm there full time.

I had my retirement party at work. Things are all finished there.

After these last few shows, I will no longer be an active member of the Boat Drunks. Little did I know that, when I carried my acoustic guitar over to Jake's apartment on a snowy afternoon in the winter of 1999-2000, in response to his ad about starting a "Buffett Tribute Band" that this would be one of the most significant events of my life.

After all of these years, it doesn't quite seem real that I will be leaving these guys behind. We've all gotten to be like a big family.

I guess no one really knows what the future holds but watershed events like this really bring the uncertainty into focus.
