2,836nm to date since we left San Diego. We are heading for Nuka Hiva and should see land by morning. The sunrise and sunset today were spectacular. The day was mellow and mild. The heat subsided a bit and the 15 knot breeze kept the cockpit fresh. The sky was dotted with puffy clouds. We have all settled quite well into a boat routine. All of us having separate responsibilities. Roy, is on fish duty. Dan is the technical guru, I fix stuff like the clogged bilge pump hose and Captain, aside from keeping the boat afloat and all the different systems balanced and batteries charged, his most important duty has been the Keeper of the Ice.
It's been a great trip as we head into our last few hours out at sea. We have had little hardships but many spoils. We have eaten well and watched dolphins, sunsets and sunrises, moon sets and moon rises; starry nights and cloudy dark stormy skies. We have told stories at 4:00 am in the cockpit under a brilliant night sky and made a duck dinner that could rival Chez Panise. It's been an amazing trip. A bucket list kinda trip. Tomorrow we will terra firma.
