Passage to Marquesas - 1st instalment

07 March 2016 | 10 16.37'N:109 12.12'W, Clipperton Island
Jill
This morning (end of Day 5) we passed by Clipperton Island, a small remote atoll and the only land on our route from Zihuatanejo to the Marquesas. Too much swell for a safe anchorage, even though it's quite calm today, so we are continuing on our way. Have had great weather so far, light winds and small seas. Enough wind at times to run with only the spinakker up, saving on fuel! We've seen the "green flash" at sunset and sunrise, an interesting phenomenon I learned of only a couple of weeks ago. After sailing in a south westerly direction from the Pacific Coast of Mexico for 5 days we have now entered the same time zone as Cabo San Lucas (Mexico) and Calgary! Amazing.....
