Eureka! Lot's of waves to consider in route
08 September 2015
We stare are the NOAA weather reports on the computer multiple times daily trying to figure the wave height and period. We also talk with other (seasoned) mariners we meet when we are in port, and generally obsess over waves. Sunday night we sailed the last 40 miles to Crescent City Harbor with 8 foot waves and 30+ knots of wind. Since it was dark, it all seems more dramatic than it really was.
Huzzah is a great boat, and she takes such conditions in stride. But her crew prefer a more comfortable ride whenever possible. So, we watch and wait for favorable conditions! This morning we awoke at 4:30 am to get out to calmer water. We're on our way to Bodega Bay or San Fransisco Bay. I'll report on our next leg later.
