On the move again
09 October 2015
We resumed our voyage South last Tuesday after cruising the SF Bay for three weeks. We met a lot of great folks in the Bay who are also doing this year's Baja Ha Ha rally, and others just heading South. So many interesting people, there just wasn't enough time for sharing - as we all had boat projects yet to complete. That said, the tradition of joining together in someone's cockpit for an informal happy hour was observed whenever possible.
This transition also meant Jody was heading back to Gig Harbor, and Fred & Ken were joining me for the next leg to San Deigo.
Our first stop was Half Moon Bay, a well protected anchorage with a friendly yacht club. The club is located on the breach but has no pier/dock, so folks' are ferried to a float offshore on a small pontoon boat with ropes!
Next day we motored in flat seas to Monterey Bay until the afternoon breeze gave us some great spinnaker sailing in 15 - 20 knots of wind.. As usual, we had multiple whale sightings, as they are in the area right now. Even more interesting are the Dolphins. It's seems like when they see us, they come to our boat just to play. They are very entertaining.
The Monterey harbor was so crowded with boats on buoys, we anchored outside the breakwater in the ocean swell. Everyone should experience that 😉
