UPDATE 11/28/15 - Sandra has lost her punch and is being declared a post-tropical remnant low, rather than a hurricane at this point. With only 35 kt winds , I'm sure everybody is breathing a sigh of relief. Today's picture (ABOVE) shows her turn to the east as well!
Here's the 11/25 picture of hurricane Sandra moving ever closer to Huzzah, in her La Paz moorage. We have our fingers crossed and are hoping Sandra veers south when she gets closer to the Baja California Peninsula. Our hope is based on cooler water temperatures in the Sea of Cortez, and some of the computer models that suggest the Southwesterly shear winds will help provide rapid weakening. I know almost nothing about hurricanes, so please take my comments in that context.
Sandra's intensity is now raised to 100 kt, making her a category 3 hurricane. There have now been 9 major hurricanes over the eastern North Pacific Ocean during the 2015 season, which is a record for the area!
I am confident Huzzah will fair well as she is in a great facility - Marina Palmira! And she's being looked after by our friend Tom, and other friends from the Ha-Ha fleet at the marina. Thank you guys! I wish I was there myself - I really do!!
