So we're held up her in Puerto Los Cabos for 10 days waiting for a radar cable. I try not to think about it - but that's half the distance to French Polynesia. Oh well, we'll get that 1500 miles back with good karma somewhere!
So, we are seizing this time to work projects, including a big one - the refrigerator! It was getting progressively weaker, so we called in a local refrigeration guy named Ulises Rodriguez. After checking things out, he agreed the Freon charge was not the issue, but a severe blockage somewhere in the system. So yesterday he completely removed the system, replaced the copper lines between the compressor and the evaporator (inside the box), cleaned the new lines, and re-charged the system with refrigerant. He spend over 4 hours crawling into spaces normally left for the owner/captain.
And (drum roll) it now works again.
