Slow Dancing -Tuamotus
03 May 2016 | Passage to Tuamotus', French Polynesia
Gerry
Two days of fast sailing in flat seas and perfect beam-reaching conditions have yielded us 365 miles towards our destination. That means we have 140 to 190 miles to go, depending where we make landfall. Which is uncertain at this point as the wind has died (as predicted), and we cannot navigate the tricky atoll passes without the benefit of daylight and tide. So were slow dancing in 5 knots of wind, trying our best to keep the boat moving. Since we have a number of atolls to choose from, we're pouring over the cruising guides and doing our distance over time calculations for each scenario. We'll eventually have to get the D-sail going later tonight, but we hate the noise and will resist as long as possible! For the moment were enjoying the quiet, flat, stable boat. Fred continues to wow us with each meal he creates, each seems even more amazing than the prior days. Life is slow, but life is good aboard Huzzah!
