Tahiti-Moorea Sailing Rendez-vous
27 June 2016
Last weekend the crew of Huzzah participated in the 11th annual three-day Tahiti-Moorea Sailing Rendez-vous. The event serves as a celebration for cruisers who successfully made the Pacific Puddle Jump passage to the islands — 3,000 miles nonstop from Mexico for Huzzah. In addition to telling sailor-stories (aka half truths & lies), sailors were introduced to addictive elements of Polynesian music, dance, sport and cuisine.
Sadly, winds were too light and fluky Saturday morning to run the usual race to Moorea, but the afternoon and evening activities included a cocktail schmooze and an awesome music and dance show. Fun was had by all (Fred, Kristine, Ken, Teresa, Jody & Captain Gerry). Even Fred's dog-bit injury couldn't spoil the special feeling of this event, knowing in a few shot days our guests would be returning home.
