July 3rd, 2010 - Saint John NB to Saint Andrews NB.

First - last night. I do not recommend Market Square for an overnight in Saint John NB, especially on a weekend night. We had two guys climbing on the boat at 0245 - the bars close at 0200. They did not like the bright spotlight in their eyes and left us alone after that. There were also two pairs of young people on the doc until about 0330, but they just st and talked - it was a nice night.

Off the doc at 0745 - into Saint Andrews 1635. Not bad for 49 nautical miles - especially fighting the currents on the Bay of Fundy. What kind of day - bumpy, choppy, swells and 20 knot winds near the end. I am very tired and quite wind burned in the face. I keep telling myself - we're on vacation! I am now sitting on a mooring, using our NanoStation2 hooked to a Mac Airport connected to an open network somewhere on the shore. For how it works "technically" - look at http://adambaker.ca/projects/ns2.html

For me, it works!

Tomorrow - a lazy day - muck around, go into Saint Andrews. Saint Andrews is a wonderful sea-side town with lots to see, friendly people and a great place for going to or coming from the USA.

Captain Hook does not yet have his sea legs, but he is very gentle when he is sea sick. He just lies there. His energy level goes to about 40% and he sleeps. Once we come to a halt, he is back to normal quickly and eats, uses the Cat Head and roams around.

Linda is cooking up a gourmet meal and I am ready to eat. So, will upload a pic or two and post the blog.

Shalom

Rik, Linda and Capt. Hook
