Been a few days, been without wifi. Moved around a bit, had a few "adventures".

June 9 09 - Rockland Town Dock

Dock days or town days are just fine with us. We get a chance to do a bit of walking, do a bit of shopping and maybe (in this case) hook up to 120 volts and charge everything we have.

This one has been good - been rainy anyway, so I got quite a bit done. We bought a replacement hot water heater back in Edgewater MD three weeks ago for the boat when we discovered that the one in the boat had rusted right through. But, with no 120 v in sight, I never hooked up anything except the heat from the engine exhaust water. Well - this diesel engine does not run really hot - but warmish water for a shower is sure better than cold water. And the heating is free - that is, any time we run the engine, we heat up six gallons of water, enough for two showers for sure!

This AM, I hooked up the 120 V wires to the hot water heater, and now, while we are on the dock, we have really HOT water with the turn of a tap. So, today was really hot showers, hot water for dishes, hot water for washing hands, lots of hot water. (Gypsy Rover II, our last boat, had an 18 gallon water tank and so, Linda was a major water usage monitor. Mystery has 120 gallons of water. Big smiles all around.)

I also worked with the new chart plotter, got some software for moving routes from FUGAWI to the chart plotter and visited some neat art galleries.

We finished supper and I went for a walk, looking for meat for tomorrow. I walked up about a half mile and found a fish market. Got a nice halibut steak and a half dozen nice potatoes. Barbie tomorrow night for sure!
