Pelagic docked at FIPASS in Stanley Harbour at 4am on Wednesday morning after motoring in the last few miles following a nice evenings sail under one of the clearest starry skies that any of us had ever seen. A bottle or two of wine was opened to celebrate the arrival while we waited for customs & immigration clearance at 8am. The guests dispersed to their various hotels during the day but a few of us met up for a steak dinner at the Victory Bar. Today has been spent unloading and dumping the rubbish. We bring back quite a lot of rubbish from these trips as we do not throw anything over the side in Antarctic waters; instead we seal organics in blue cement barrels for later disposal in Stanley, all other non organic rubbish is washed, crushed and stored aboard. In the Falklands we can recycle aluminium and glass so those items are kept sperate for appropriate disposal too.
