Paxos / Corfu

The next morning we paid the new Greek cruising tax said goodbye to the guys on Mangata and the lovely town of Preveza. Our next stop was Paxos. The island of Paxos was only a short hop up the Greek coast. It was a great place to wait for good conditions to cross the Adriatic sea to Italy. The harbour [...]

The Aussie

We motored to the stern of Mangata and knocked. From inside we heard a hello woohoo he was home well we kinda knew he was home the dinghy was tied to the stern. We climbed aboard and went below for a quick tour and drink. I always forget how much room is inside a Bavaria. There must be at least [...]

Adventure 2019 begins

The 2019 travel season started on April 2nd with a ferry ride to Vancouver where wonderful friends put us up for the night before the flight to Greece. Thank you so much. The flight was just the way we like flights uneventful. Once we passed through customs and satisfied the man at the exit that the [...]

Wrap up of 2018 sailing season

When we left our intrepid traveler Emmet he was in Poros waiting for a weather system to pass. While waiting food was consumed and roads were walked. One of the boats near us had its anchor lifted and ended up side tied to the quay which wasn’t a great place to be. The surge from the storm and other [...]

Meganisi

17 June 2017
We are stern tied to the island of Meganisi in Abelike bay. It is beautiful and not a store in sight.
After 10 days anchored in Vlikho bay and making many attempts to purchase all the parts at the Nydri Marine store we have finally earned a day at the beach so to speak.
The water here is clear and warm, whatever is in the trees on shore are making a (for now) relaxing chirping type sound.
Dont get me wrong Vlikho was a nice place to stay it was for the most part quiet, but it was sorta a working harbour there were lots of smaller boats traveling in and out tenders to the moored boats and locals doing their thing including fishing boats looking for the days catch. We even wondered how often these little boats collided with the larger boats swinging at anchor.
There wasnt much wind or current to keep the boats hanging in one direction so they just drifted around within the scope of the anchor rode. We didnt see a boat hit another boat but we did see a fishing boat drive up onto the shore judging by his shouts he didnt do it intentionally, with the help of our dingy and one other he was pulled off the shore. It didnt really seem to faze him so I'm guessing running into the beach is not totally unheard of.
The last three nights at Vlikho there was a wedding. We are fairly certain it was only one wedding. On day one what looked like a bridal party arrived at one of the Bay side taverna in a little boat and there was a party that night, day two I'm guessing the grooms
group arrived in a bigger boats there were many speeches and cheers then the boat left the taverna full of more people it was gone for a couple hours then returned there were more speeches and cheers then partying resumed into the night.
Day three was quiet until the evening and boy did that taverna rock until early in the morning.
