Paxos / Corfu

The next morning we paid the new Greek cruising tax said goodbye to the guys on Mangata and the lovely town of Preveza. Our next stop was Paxos. The island of Paxos was only a short hop up the Greek coast. It was a great place to wait for good conditions to cross the Adriatic sea to Italy. The harbour [...]

Replaced the fresh water pump, fixed [...]

The Aussie

We motored to the stern of Mangata and knocked. From inside we heard a hello woohoo he was home well we kinda knew he was home the dinghy was tied to the stern. We climbed aboard and went below for a quick tour and drink. I always forget how much room is inside a Bavaria. There must be at least [...]

The next ten days were spent in the boat yard. Unlike last year there was no red dirt but it was cold and wet.Fortunately we had a heater and electricity. Adventure 2019 begins

The 2019 travel season started on April 2nd with a ferry ride to Vancouver where wonderful friends put us up for the night before the flight to Greece. Thank you so much. The flight was just the way we like flights uneventful. Once we passed through customs and satisfied the man at the exit that the [...]

Wrap up of 2018 sailing season

When we left our intrepid traveler Emmet he was in Poros waiting for a weather system to pass. While waiting food was consumed and roads were walked. One of the boats near us had its anchor lifted and ended up side tied to the quay which wasn’t a great place to be. The surge from the storm and other [...]

argostoli

30 June 2017
The 26th of june marked one month in Europe. Everything is going really well. For starters we havent felt the need to kill or maim each other which i think is is very promising. Lots of boat jobs have been completed Both before we launched and once we started. We have been slowly exploring letting the boat jobs and weather dictate
the speed of travel. We have adopted a crew member and then watched him fly across the cockpit like a super hero sorry Gizmo. Emmit seems to think hes being followed.
As of now we have avoided sun burns and for the most part heat stroke. Ate a lot of greek food I mean these guys have really figured out how to grill meat.
We have found a poster of the flags of europe and put it in the i pad so we can tell where the boats around us are from.
While in Argostoli we have walked for what seemed like forever to see a botanical garden of local plants, it was full of all the herbs you try to grow in your garden.
Then while looking at plates in a kitchen supply store we experienced a earthquake. Interesting. Early the next morning there was a second one
Yes you can feel a earthquake on a boat how weird is that. According to the earthquake tracker they were only in the mid 4 range. It is hot so hot does sweating use calories?
It cooled down to 27 the other night and we needed to find blankets. We are loving the attitude in the Ionian islands I\m not sure if its the same allover Greece. Everything seems to be ok and if its not it can be changed. In the evening once the temp drops people come out to visit and play.Since we were in Argostoli last year the have redone their main square it is beautiful. They removed the tables from the restaurants added some more trees and some fountains that are designed to be played in. Last night they set up a stage for what looked like a dance recital although they called it a festival. Every night we have been here its been full of kids rollerblading, biking and ridding those two wheeled electric scooter things as well they seemed to have had an unlimited supply of little green rubber balls which we just found out were limes from the surrounding trees.
Ahh festival seems last night was a rehearsal tonight its the Kefalonian gymnastic festival the stage now has chairs in front of it cameras and a curtain not to forget the gymnasts doing their thing. To me it kinda looks like a mix between gymnastics and dancing.
Not only have Greeks figured out how to cook meat but they have figured out how to make things out of dough or pastry hold large amounts of honey the thing Emmit is standing beside is a honey delight it kind resembles a timbit but really its just a holding device for a lot of honey omg soo good
