Hello everyone, sorry for the delays , internet is pretty hit and mostly miss here in Ensenada De Los Muertos. That being said it is worth the lack of communication here, absolutely beautiful. It has been windy since we got here 6 or 7 days ago, and we are waiting on a weather window once again. Not a bad place to be stuck for a week though.
Only one resteraunt here and its right above the beach, very picturesque. Definetly not a cheap eats taco stand kinda place though, but very good food and a fantastic view of the entire cove.
We have had an amazing amount of sealife here, as soon as we got anchored we noticed the puffer fish nibbling at our hull( maybe its time to scrub the bottom) and the second day we had a juvenile grey whale come into the cove, he visited each of the four boats anchored, swimming behind or under each of us, was very cool.
Yesterday DD and I saw a strange fin zig-zagging through the water and thought hmmm thats a weird looking shark fin, so of course we got in our dinghy to go investigate. Lo and behold that whaleshark , small as he was at 16-18ft, was more spectacular than you can even imagine. We both wanted to jump in and swim with him, however we chose not this time , maybe next time. They are pretty intimidating, even the small ones.
Went Kayaking and tried to get blown out to sea, but with some serious effort we made it back to our boat. There is a pretty neat reef at the south end of the cove, we paddled over the scenery but didnt see many fish. Remember paddle upwind first so the ride home is easy, but no why would we do that when we could create an adventure by paddling a mile away from the boat downwind and having to fight to get home.
OK so we are planning on leaving here late thursday night to make it through the San Lorenzo channel early in the morning light. We might stop in Puerto Balandra for a night just because its pretty there, but we should be in La Paz either Friday or Saturday depending on if we stop or head staight into La Paz.
Internet should be good in La paz and I can update a little more frequently. Lots of love to everyone Doc and DD
