Doc
Well the time really has come, the sun is slowly setting on our long long sailing adventure. DD and I have lived and sailed aboard our boat for almost 11 years, the longest we have been away from the comfort and security of our paradise afloat is 6 weeks to roadtrip and visit family.
This time we leave for a bit longer, we are exploreing a new area for us, looking for property in the cooler mountains of northern az, so we can build our next dream a 100% off the grid eco-home on a good bit of land. Snowbirds??? you ask? umm no world explorers need a home base ya know and after a decade of answering "where's home?" only to answer home is where the boat is.(yes that just brought tears to our eyes) It might be time for a small home base to "come home to"
Oh we will still have the boat and will be making regular trips down to Mexico to maintain and refurbish the old girl.
Imi Loa turned 50 years old this March, a 50 year old catamaran with a legacy of Speed and Fame....Fortune and Glory kids..... she is just as beautiful as she ever was, and she still sails like a dream, she has safely, taken us to many many paradises, and she is certainly not done yet.
So We have done our best to wrap our beautiful little boat, lots of cleaning lots of tears and lots of "oh we need to fix that when we get back". She will be just fine I think, she is far stronger than we are.
As for us .... we want to say thank you to everyone we have met along our adventure, everyone who has come over with a story about this old boat, every friend we have made, every person we have shared the dream with and has enhanced our lives.
Thank you our many friends, it is with heavy hearts and tear filled eyes we say see you later, not goodbye , we will see you all again soon.
Lots of Love Doc and DD
and remember the next adventure is always right around the corner
