Finally On Our Way!

Our big adventure started this morning at 7:00 am as we pulled away from the dock. Light winds and a pretty sunrise greeted us. After motoring for about an hour the winds picked up and we sailed past Cabbage Key with a dolphin escort at times, heeling quite nicely as the photo shows. But after about 3 hours we had to put the canvas away since the wind was on the bow as our course changed. BLTs for lunch and perfect temperatures helped us deal with the wind gusts over 25 knots which made it quite choppy. We passed Fort Myers in late afternoon and settled in across the river from the FPL power plant, west of I-75. Burgers and cocktails helped put Bill to sleep by 9:00, but we are ready to move on to Moore Haven tomorrow.
