Our Last Night on the Road!

Not much to report for yesterday - Bill drove and drove and drove. We left Slidell, Louisiana and stopped for the night in Lake City, FL. I had wanted to stop at Florida Caverns State Park but the tickets for the tour of the caverns are first come, first served and as we neared I called and we [...]

Sitting at St. Johns Yacht Harbor

08 May 2017 | Johns Island, SC
78, sunny
Slept in a bit, then woke up to a pretty morning. Breakfast, then laundry. Bill fixed the battery charger while I was on land, and when I returned we changed the oil and filter. Got the clothes out of the dryer and then vacuumed and washed floors in the boat. Shower time! Mom and Nancy and Nikki picked me up and we went to lunch at Southern General’s – I had corn fritters with sweet potato cream cheese and they were great! We went to Carl and Nikki’s house to gather necessities, and then to the beach on Kiawah Island. It was gorgeous. Low tide, so the beach was very wide and clean. Nikki and I walked for a long way but there weren’t many shells to collect, although we did see many large dead shrimp – mostly just the shells. Left the beach around 4:00 and stopped at Blackbird Grocery – had to buy some Geechee Brothers stone ground grits while we are in South Carolina! Back to Carl and Nikki’s for dinner – Bill and Carl were there already. We had some wine time goodies and the lasagna for dinner was tasty - salad and bread were perfect complements. This time goodbyes were for a longer length of time – Molly and Nancy head south tomorrow to Punta Gorda and we head north. Carl and Nikki go back to work. We think the tide will help us through the Elliott Cut to Charleston, after that, who knows?
