Rock and Roll and Another Rescue
21 February 2017 | St Annes - Martinique
Frank and Mandy
Yesterday we me up first thing with Chis and Dave on Platina to help them move their boat to the dock in Le Marin for some new stainless steel work.
We then went on to collect our hydraulic rear-stay tensioner which we found would now not be ready until Friday.
So after a delightful lunch with Platina in The Sextant we headed back across the bay to St Annes in our dinghy.
The weather forecast was for light winds.
But the wind was building fast and had turned through 180 degrees and the clouds were getting very grey.
The ride back was wet and bumpy and the seas were building.
Infinity B had swung right round into shallow water and was rocking and rolling about violently.
It was a struggle to get back on board.
All the other boats in the bay were having trouble too and several were having to re-anchor.
We lifted the anchor and re-positioned the boat int deeper water and lifted our dinghy.
The wind was howling and we spotted a guy nearby on a dinghy having engine trouble and managed to get him aboard safely.
The rain was torrential.
Eventually the the dinghy owner made a run for his own boat, broke down again and was blowing off down wind.
We managed to signal a fisherman with our horn to rescue him and take him safely to his boat.
The seas are still rough but the wind is subsiding and all is well.
