Mandy and The Hospital

Mandy
We had a very pleasant dive yesterday morning. But Mandy developed an eye problem on the way back to Infinity B at about midday. We were worried about the possibility of a detached retina.
It was a carnival day there were no buses. So Quentin the Belgian boyfriend one of the girls from Centre de Plongee des Ilets volunteered to take us to the Hospital. First we went to Bass Terre Hospital about 40 mins south but they had no eye specialist available. So Quentin very kindly drove us another 1 1/2 hours to The Emergency Unit at The Hospital at Pionte Pitre. We arrived at about 16.00. Mandy was seen very quickly and found to have high blood pressure and was booked to an Opthalmic Specialist, which we did at about 18.30. Meantime we had called our friends Rennee & Christian from Nemo de Mare who were in the marina nearby. Mandy was found to have detached vitreous humor and told to see another specialist in a month. We then met up with Rennee & Christian at 19.00 and watched the carnival.
Quentin collected us at about 20.40. We eventually got back on board at 22.00. The dive centre, Quentin, Rennee, Christian and the French medical system were e all superb - Thank You.
So we have postponed the remainder of our dive trips until we return in November/December. So we plan to have some restful days before we set up to Antiqua.
