A new delay, such is life

Hello all you blog followers. We begin this entry on March 19, 2012. We are tied to a mooring in Falmouth Bay right next to English Harbor on the Island of Antigua. We are surrounded by mega mega yachts, the sort that only Bill Gates or Tiger Woods could dream of affording.

The Leewards

It’s surprising how little distance can be covered in so much time. Sailing is a slow business at the best of times.

ARC 2011 Gran Canaria to St Lucia

Wow! Time sure flies by it has been over two months since we made it across the Atlantic, albeit second last in the Rally and there hasn’t been much thought of adding or updating the blog. In fact we apparently got so wrapped up in preparations we forgot to post some of our travel. We left Lanzarote [...]

always the same
Well as you can see we are still tied up in Athens. It is Sunday and everything is closed but churches and restaraunts. Tomorrow is another Holiday, supposed to be the most significant one of the year for Greeks, I don't know. But I do know that nothing will be working!. So with the wind generator still to be installed and a mounting pipe to be fabricated and wiring for it and the extra battery bank being added it is pretty clear we will be here through next week. It is all needed so we have to bite the bullet and take what time is necessary to get it done. A new wrinkle in the ARC requirements means we now are going to put a Tricolor nav light on top of the mast. We needed to go up and replace the bulb in the mooring light anyway so whats a few more wires?

Today is Cris birthday, I am not allowed to say which one so in the interest of domestic tranquility I won't, happy birthday Cris..

The picture was from Milos. No that isn't a fisherman, no it isn't even his boat, he is the Dockmaster for the city. But isn't he the stereotypical Greek water person? He catches your lines when you come in, tells you where to park, collects the money for electricity and water before you leave, that is his job, what he does for a living. Mostly he walks around and flirts with whatever girls happen by. Oh, and he fishes with a handline sometimes. Not everyone has a job they hate eh? And in all the time we were there and no matter how hot the concrete was we never saw him wear as much as a pair of flip flops... maybe he doesn't own any shoes?
