Dominica to Gaudeloupe
10 February 2010 | Deshaies

We are up early, coffee going and the roosters are saying their good-mornings!
Weather is nice, but wind is about non-existent.
We waste no time and the ropes are let go, and we are motoring out.
Up with the main, but where is the wind... not so much today!! This is the first day that I remember motoring constantly and we are about 7 hours into our track that is planned for a quick overnight stay in Deshaies Bay Guadeloupe.
Within a few hours our path brings us through The Saintes Islands below Guadeloupe. It's like a sail through a park, it's beautiful.
Another couple of hours of motoring/sailing (still no wind to speak of) we are off the western coast of Guadeloupe, another French island and from the looks so far, the towns and all the buildings look very nice, very similar to Martinique, our other French island.
We are both taking it pretty easy, a bit of dueling Kendle's (Kyle's always at the helm!) and I decide to go up front and relax on the trampoline.
Kyle walks up with the binoculars and says there is a 'cat' in trouble - more than in trouble it has hit the shore and one of the pontoons is sinking. We slowed, looked & looked some more and decided to go back and see if they needed any help. We could see the Coast Guard had a boat close by and 2, looked-to-be, passengers were in a dinghy still with the boat. The catamaran - it was 'Spice', the cat we liked so much, and the same boat that moored in the same bay as us, just last night!
Kyle got us close, dropped the main sail and he got in our dinghy and went over to see if they needed anything. They didn't, the Captain had left with the Coast Guard to get help and then return.
Thankfully everyone was ok, but wow, our hearts go out to them!!
