Snorkeling at Monkey Point and Cam Bay

We wake up to a beautiful morning in Great Harbour Bay, clear blue sky, the sun shining bright and the wind in the wrong direction, two out of three! Our morning starts with a great scrambled egg breakfast from Chef Brenda with sausage, peppers, onions, toast coffee and slow internet - what's your hurry mon. Off to shore to the little dive shop and purchase a couple disposable underwater camera's for our next adventure and a couple postcards for Sami's collection

Back on ITW we motor out of Great Harbour JVD, past Sandy Cay, unfurl the genoa and set the auto pilot to take us to Monkey Point off of Guana Island. A couple hours later and a very nice motor sail up the north side of Tortola we arrive at Monkey Point and soon we are all in the water with our snorkel gear on. We snorkel around for an hour or so, have a great light lunch, some more snorkeling and then set sail for Cam Bay on the Great Camanoe Island.

We navigate through the reef and drop the hook in 7' of water and within a 100 yards from the shore, we are the only boat in the bay this time - AWESOME! Within minutes we are all in the water and snorkeling towards the reef. Brenda and I spot a small sea turtle and I race to take a picture, we will see if it turns out. We swim around the reef, checking out the fish and shells, just chillin in the water when a large spotted ray swims right by us (brownish with white spots, bottle nose and tubular body and a tail that is at least 5' long). I think I get three good pictures of him as we swim along and he seems to be just as curious of us as we are of him, very kewl. Sami and Huston keep snorkeling for another hour or so while I clean the bottom of the dinghy. They arrive back at ITW with the treasure of shells and sun burns, ouch, pale faced tourists (now red) without sun screen.

For diner I grill up the Chateaubriand that Brenda has marinated all day and a salad with every vegetable we have on the boat, washed down with some French Rose, yum! An NCIS marathon and then we are off to take a nap under the stars in Cam Bay.
