Better than yesterday

I left Ell Cove this morning at 6am. The wind was still from the south, as I'd expected, but I was able to motorsail again and to my surprise, there was a small favorable current as I headed south, down and across Chatham Strait and then east into Frederick Sound. There was less rain today, at least in the morning, but lots of fog, all day. Frederick Sound had lots of odd local conditions, with winds (mostly light) veering around the compass and some areas of big waves. But I completed my 46 miles and was anchored before 2pm. I caught a Pacific sole and had him for dinner.
Tomorrow I'm going back to Petersburg. The winds are supposed to start changing to the preferred northwest direction tomorrow afternoon. Weather forecasts for the next few days are teasing me with hints of less rain and slightly warmer temperatures. I'll probably need to spend about three nights in Petersburg until the tide times are good for a speedy transit of Wrangell Narrows.
