Today I climbed up Iris's mast. A while ago I got my hands on a second-hand MastMate, which resulted a very comfortable and safe way to climb up the mast. The MastMate is a flexible ladder that goes into the mainsail's sailtrack. Highly recommended.
What did I do up there? Well, I unscrewed the old Stowe masthead unit. It's anemometer cups had stopped turning a long time ago and it's about time to fix them. I will send the unit for revision to Stowe Marine. Probably the bearings will have to be replaced.
