With the start of the season close by, I did the annual maintenance on Iris' Volvo Penta 2002 engine. I changed the engine oil, replaced the oil filter, changed the oil in the reverse gear, replaced the primary fuel filter, cleaned the air intake silencer, and oiled the throttle lever mechanism. And to finish the day, when I was about to change the secondary fuel filter...oops I accidentaly broke the tiny little fuel leak-off line on top of the engine. I hope it doesn't take too much time to get a hold on a replacement part...
Update 07/02/06: I stopped by the local Volvo Penta dealer. The leak-off line in question -part 840483- would cost me around 140€ (for a 20cm metal tube!!!) Fortunately, I found the same item at
www.marinepartsexpress.com for less than half that price. I ordered and they said it was shipped today.
Update 13/02/06: a received the leak-off line today. Excelent service. At least, soon I can go sailing again.
Update 18/02/06: fitted the leak-off line and vented the engine. It runs again! Since the line came unpainted, I cleaned the engine top, applied a rust converter and painted it.
