captain steve
hello all, just a quick ironie update to keep you all posted....well,after 3 months on tutuilla island
in american samoa, ironie is about to find a safe place to sit out the transition season for cyclones
from the north pacific to the south.a decision has yet to be made as to our destination.the options
are to go north to the marshall islands and kiribati or fiji or tonga and possibly new zealand.
we are currently leaning to the vavau islands in tonga as to not get too far west too fast and miss
some prime cruising.currently the ironie crew is as always, captain steve and now new crew member ,
May Solo of the solomon islands.may has sailed to american samoa and new zealand from bahamas in
the past 2 years on 2 diffrent yachts.she is 22 years old speaks 3 languages and brings a very welcome ,fresh, young energy to
ironie.we look forward to lots of good times with may aboard.
the past 3 months have been lots of fun here in american samoa.it has also been a productive time
as well.i did a bit of work in the attorney generals offices here doing a renovation on an
office and a lunch area.i tore up the old carpeting and painted and tiled the area bringing in a
few extra cruising bucks.it was a good experience to be able to work in an overseas territory.
i hope to be able to work along the way across the pacific and not have to return to the states
to replenish the cruising kitty.
we've also been happy to provision the boat here in american samoa.the prices and selection of goods here is superior
to any place in the pacific between here and fiji.so it's been a good stop in that respect.we've also
made lots of good friends here and been able to reunite with old friends from last years cruising season.
we will be sad to say far well to george from thalia and sam, jennifer and family from purrrrfection.
here's wishing george good luck with ironie alumni crew debrae from the panama to tahiti leg
last year.wishing them all the best!!
i've included some pics from the last month or two....will post a blog entry when we arrive in our next destination.
lots of love to you all from captain steve and new crew ,may....till next time... check out the "worlds most traveled motorcycle" at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/forwood/ peter and kay from australia whom i met in the DDW cafe in pago last month on thier around the world tour.....
