Hurricane Season Week 1

03 June 2013 | Marathon Fl
George - Rain Rain Rain
We made it three days into this year's hurricane season and already Invest 91L just off the Yucatan, has appeared on the NOAA hurricane watch site. All computer models have it going well north of us and no real issue beyond pumping what seems like endless rain into the area.

Good for finding leaks in the deck... now the trick is to remember where they were when the sun does come back out.

We are now tied up on the sea wall at Marathon Marina... an increase in cost over mooring balls but with hot weather combined with rain, the air conditioner is a welcome relief. We can run our AC on generator but the annoyance of the noise all night is just not worth it. Plugging into shore power is a welcome relief.

An additional benefit of the AC is that it dries out the interior of Ishmael which is also a welcome break. Hot humid days with the hatches closed because of rain is pretty tough on the interior environment.

So we are comfortable, cool, and dry ; just watching the Universe unfold as it will.
