Still here after all these years....

George / Warm and Sunny
Well not much has happened boat wise for quite a while but we did replace a lot of interior counter-top and head fixtures.
Topping the list of the most recent updates are:

- new holding tank
- new rudder position sensor and indicator
- new bowsprit brightwork see pic attached.

The plan it to sail away a year from this May... lots of work to do between now and then.

Cheers

This clip available on you tube gives a pretty good view of the harbor. All mooring balls are taken. I like the ocean view at the end of the clip the best.

Merry Christmas from Florida Keys

25 December 2013 | Marathon Florida
Rainy, grey, and warm
Merry Christmas to all... It has been a pretty sedate day for us. The clouds rolled in this morning and stayed on for the rest of the day.

Light warm rain. It's not so bad, no freezing no snow, not even cold. The wind is kicking up pretty well at about 20 knots.

We had a nice Christmas eve sundown visit on s/v Queequeg. They are kind of our boat mates what with Queequeg and Ishmael LOL There are no Pequods yet to my knowledge.

Best Wishes to all for a Merry Christmas and a peaceful and happy New Year.

George and Kathy s/v Ishmael

Unexpected Pleasures

George - Warm Again
The cold has left the Keys and today it was picture-perfect with not a speck of cloud in the sky.

Our day went more or less like this.

Kathy spotted a peregrine falcon while we were walking Kooper. Powerful, quick and beautiful they are an impressive sight. Back from near extinction, in the old DDT days, they migrate through here in the fall. This guy (gal) must have decided to stay for a while. Probably a good decision.

We took pictures of a flock of white Ibis and one brown one foraging for insects. See picture. A la Sesame Street... one of these is different?
Kathy did a session of Tai Chi... I watched.
I filled the water tanks on Ishmael and hosed the deck... Kathy read a book.
Kathy gave Kooper a bath... I answered a few emails about an ongoing crisis at work.

Mahi sandwich for lunch and roast duck for dinner. Nice ending to an extended weekend.

So there you have it ... another day enjoyed. I had thought to use the Car Guys saying of "Well you have wasted another perfectly good day" but it didn't fit.

I have to do some travelling for work...so limited upcoming opportunities for sailing.

It seems we are not taking years off of Ishmael's life due to the heavy sailing schedule... ha ha.
