Arrived in St Helena at 06h00. It's a small island that is filled with character. The people are very freindly here. Spent the first night at Ann's Place. Had a good couple of beers, then retired at 22h00. Have to take a ferry in from the boat as there is a bit of a surge and you cant land the dingy there.
It's Joey's Birthday. Baked a cake an celebrated later in the evening with a bottle of bubbly. Had a bit a jol and danced on the boats large dance floor. By this time the winds have died down to around 5-10 knots with SOG at 4-5 knots.
Left Walvis Bay at 12h00 for St Helena which is a 9-10 day sail or 1200 miles. Did the crossing with an American guy, Tom. Although we didn't see each other or have much comms along the way, it was comforting to know that there was someone out there not too far away. Our first couple of days we had good winds between 20-25 knots doing 150 miles a day.
Filled the water tanks this morning. Im really missing walk on moorings now. Having to cart 25kg water containers in the dingy can wear a man down. Found an amazing steak house in town and had corocodile and kudu for dinner.
Spent the day in Swakopmund. It's a small neat little town that always has good weather. Had a tour around the Crystal Gallery and local museum, then had lunch at the Lighthouse Resturant & Bar which is situated right on the beach front.
Started preparing the boat for our trip to St Helena. Tightened fan belts and refueled with diesel. Got some help from Fred , a friend of Meme's. The locals are very helpful around here who go out of there way to advise and help out.
