Ode to Old Age

We made it back in time to do a little work on a project we have going in the back yard: a retaining wall. We have bought 4 palettes of bricks and we are about to lay them. We've hired a young man who is a very good worker and he has been ever so helpful. Today I (Jay) went to the ophthalmologist's office [...]

Out for a couple of weeks

In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.

Welcome to our sailing blog. We are recently retired and in our late 50s. It is now time to start crossing off some of those things we should have done when we were younger, but just never found the time. Kids, family, jobs always have been a high priority for us. This blog will follow us as we finish our final preparations for a sailtrip from our homeport in Nanaimo B.C. to Mexico and who knows where.
Today we were down on the boat. Anita was touching up the cetol on the front of the cockpit coaming as I cleaned up the mess I made downstairs as we were reinstalling the potty. As I was cleaning up, I noticed that we really need to make a thorough inventory of all the stuff I have in all the lockers. Tomorrow we do the second coat of cetol. Then off to Victoria to a potluck party with the Bluewater Cruising Association Vancouver Island Fleet of 2010. Many of us are leaving for parts south this summer.
