Ode to Old Age

We made it back in time to do a little work on a project we have going in the back yard: a retaining wall. We have bought 4 palettes of bricks and we are about to lay them. We've hired a young man who is a very good worker and he has been ever so helpful. Today I (Jay) went to the ophthalmologist's office [...]

Out for a couple of weeks

In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.

More San Carlos

Well, the joke is certainly on us. It is blowing like stink in the marina here. I do hope it settles down this evening. Tomorrow Karina comes out of the water and into her summer pad. We did a good job of decommissioning. We will have a long day of it going into Tijuana. According to AAA it is a 13 hour drive. We’ll see. One of our neighbours says there is a lot of truck traffic on the highway, so passing is the way of it on switchback roads as we cross the mountains to the coast. We expect to be away from San Carlos at 0500 Tuesday. So that gives us 13 hours to make it to Tijuana.
As the distance is so far to Tijuana, we might head out tomorrow afternoon and find a place to stop for the night. We are considering our options. We don’t want any more surprises. On the other hand, we don’t want to be out there in the middle of the night in a place popular with banditos.
After extensive consideration, we have developed a plan B in Tijuana. Plan A is to get our emergency passports Wednesday morning and cross at San Ysidro. Plan B is to die in a hail of gunfire as we crash through US Customs in San Ysidro;-) Lets hope for plan A!
