In the Marina San Carlos

We were up early this morning to change the oil on Bartholomew. Yep, he's back to Bartholomew from Black Bart. (When we like the motor he's Batholomew. When we don't like him he's Bart) Yesterday, when I attempted to start the motor in order to warm up the oil, the motor wouldn't start. We found the problem was the starter button. It took several hours to sort that out and, by the time we were done, so was the day. We didn't even get a chance for a swim.
By the time lunch rolled around, we were installing parts. Over lunch the bees gradually gathered in the cockpit until they became a real problem. Out with the electric tennis raquet. Anita, courageously, opened the hatch just long enough to snap the above picture and close down again. I would swat for 5 minutes and work for one for a couple of hours. Eventually, I gave up and went for a walk and hope the bugs would carry off their dead (at least 150) and go home. By sundown, a new starter button was installed and I suspect our starter problems are over for this season. It was a huge job to winkle out the old button and put a new one in.
Today, the oil change went very well and we were done by 0900. So, flushed with the success of the oil change we went into Guaymas in quest of our park passes. We found them, went to visit our money in the Scotia, stopped to drop off our dive tanks, grubbed up and were home by lunch. This afternoon, Anita decided to clean the chicken while I had a well deserved nap. She is now paddling around the pool. I would be there too if my wetsuit was ready.
Tomorrow, it is fixing to blow hard for a couple of days. So, we are OK with that as we have very few things to do before we go. We have decided to head to Puerto Escondido as the winds don't favour a passage to Santa Rosalia. Kip and Mary should be arriving in Puerto Escondido soon and the sea is cooling very quickly.
On the to do list:
*install depth sounder
*restring guitar
*wash the boat
*flush the water tanks
*commission Wayne
These are all small jobs - but necessary.
San Carlos is a nice place to commission the boat for a vacation. The only problem is the bugs make the place unbearable. I seem to be busy at any time of day nursing a couple of bug bites. Apparently, it was a wet summer so the bugs are plentiful.
Anita is torturing me by swimming around in the pool with her beautiful, slim body and long blonde hair. Here I am on shore afraid of a little cold water. I am not afraid of the clouds of bees I was killing yesterday though.
