Ode to Old Age

Out for a couple of weeks
In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.
To San Juanico

Underway again. We motored most of the way up to San Juanico. Once we got past Isla Coronado, we made sail and beat (somewhat effectively) up towards San Juanico. Unfortunately, the wind left us part way there and we motored the rest of the way. As we were sailing, the springs on the pauls of the the port winch stuck and made the journey all the more difficult. Once we got in to San Jaunico, I despaired for the repair of the winch. After taking the winch off and sending Anita on a fruitless journey, I discovered the fact that the winches don't have to be removed from the coaming to get at the pauls. The story ends with the winch working once again. It will probably be rock solid with dried grease next fall. I'll have to strip all the old grease off and start again. I guess it's time has come.
