At Marina San Carlos

Anita returning from her shower. Notice Karina is half decommisioned.
We have been in San Carlos for a few days now. We got into decommissioning right away.
We had a light wind passage from Santa Rosalia to San Carlos on Saturday night. We sailed for a few hours and it was bliss. Batholomew was his usual reliable self. He did indicate he will be a lot happier with a new transmission, but a rebuild will do just fine if it can be done affordably.
We arrived at 0700 and tied up to B-18. Soon we were working to get the main washed and folded. So far we have been busy doing boat decommissioning jobs. Today we did the masthead stuff and washing the boat. We got the furler covered . We are satisfied with the progress so far on all the jobs. Tomorrow we will go to work on the motor. We need to change the oil, run fresh water through the motor, anti freeze. Then we take off the exhaust elbow and water lock. That should free up enough room for our mechanic to work his magic on Monday. This may be a 2 or 3 day job.
Anita’s article got published! She is now a published author. It doesn’t get her out of making supper though. Not that she’d want to. Cooking is getting to be a strong suite for her.
The weather is not just hot, but getting to the unbearable part. Today it got up to 85F. The afternoon was so hot all I could do is work inside the boat with the fans going. Anita was brave enough to do the boat washing.
To do on the shutdown list:
-Removal of the lifelines, clean and store.
-Wash the dodger, store.
-finish covering the wind steering
-remove the gallows and store
-cover a few assorted bits (winches, deck electronics, heater exhaust, dinghy)
As you can imagine, we are well up on our jobs. We will take at least one day off once the transmission and exhaust elbow are in the truck and ready to head N. So far, all is going well. We are keeping very security conscious and the paperwork is carefully hidden on the boat.
We are enduring the festivities of “Unholy Week” here in San Carlos. There are more police than tourists here in San Carlos. The marina has upped security here too. Kinda creeps me out.
