In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.

My friend Jim has been bugging me to put something on our blog. I guess I have been remiss as I have been doing some pretty good cruising near home here. I guess I'll get to it.
We left home on the morning of August 8. There wasn't a breath of wind here in Nanaimo, so we had to paddle the whole way to our destination. That turned out to be 26 kilometres.
The water was more or less calm all the way to Jack Point (near Duke Point) when we encountered a 13 knot headwind in Northumberland Channel. We elected to paddle into it as we had a deadline on 1145 for the turning of the tide in False Narrows. The waves were a little high for the fact that we didn't have the skirts on to keep the water out. Things settled down as we entered False Narrows.
