Ode to Old Age

We made it back in time to do a little work on a project we have going in the back yard: a retaining wall. We have bought 4 palettes of bricks and we are about to lay them. We've hired a young man who is a very good worker and he has been ever so helpful. Today I (Jay) went to the ophthalmologist's office [...]

Out for a couple of weeks

In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.

Getting ready to head North

Dr. T looked at my finger last Tuesday and concluded that I needed a few more days of healing before he had a go at the other side of the finger. That he is saving for tomorrow. "Be prepared to bleed" were his last words to me as I went out the door.
Anita came down with a cold on Tuesday. Yesterday she was really weak and just managed to make dinner. I did the dishes.
Today I surfed the net all morning and most of the afternoon. Havin a good time.

Dr. T still has yet to finish dealing with my ailing LH index finger. I can play, but with enough pain to make me look forward to putting the guitar down. I have another appointment set for February 8. I have no idea of what to do as that isn't really going to cut it (pun) as we are leaving the next day for San Evaristo. I guess I will have to move the appointment up and see if we can't jumpstart the end of this.
Last Thursday Anita dragged herself off to the jam session. She now reminds me of her "sacrifice" as she tends my recovery.
01/30
Today, I feel much better. This morning I helped Anita bring the dinghy down and she is TSPing the toerail while I soak my finger and one-handed type letters and the blog. I have emailed an appeal to Dr. T to deal with my finger on behalf of the folks in San Evaristo. I know there have been plans set for us to play for the people of San Evaristo.
Dr. T agreed to go fishing for the sliver that has been bothering my guitar playing.
02/07
The "fishing" trip with Dr. T was a limited success. He got the sliver, but he had to darn near dissect the finger to do it. He indicated recovery will be a long journey. I expect to be able to play at the San Evaristo gig, but not for a long stint.
Tomorrow, I get the stitches out and then we head N right after I get back. The weather is 17-19 from the NW which is exactly the direction we are heading. We will take it slow as we have the best part of a week to make what is a one day journey.
