Ode to Old Age

We made it back in time to do a little work on a project we have going in the back yard: a retaining wall. We have bought 4 palettes of bricks and we are about to lay them. We've hired a young man who is a very good worker and he has been ever so helpful. Today I (Jay) went to the ophthalmologist's office [...]

Out for a couple of weeks

In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.

In Ganges

23 June 2016 | Ganges
Jay/cool/wet
We decided to lay over in Ganges here on account of the rainy weather. Drove down rain last night. Late this morning it cleared enough to go for a walk. We walked all the way from the yacht club to Dick and Chris Pattinson's old place and back. Nobody was there. The place looked well kept though.
We left Nanaimo on Monday and overnighted at Clam Bay. The next day we used the light winds before the forecasted SE winds to motor over to James Bay on Prevost Island. We walked the entire park. The trail to the point was a bit of a scramble. I don't know how many more times we going to be doing that walk as it was difficult. Yesterday morning we walked the easier trail to Selby Cove and then upped anchor for Ganges. Had dinner with Heinz and Lisa last night. They are doing well. Tomorrow we are heading for Lyall Harbour or Winter Cove. Then a bike trip to East Point the next day. Then off to Poets Cove for a couple of days, Russell Island and then a mooring ball in Tsehum Harbour in Sidney where we will take in the Jazz Festival from. Homeward bound will feature Sidney Island, Portland Island, Port Browning, Tumbo Island, Montague Harbour, Wallace Island, Pirate's Cove before we are back in Nanaimo for a few days.
