Ode to Old Age

We made it back in time to do a little work on a project we have going in the back yard: a retaining wall. We have bought 4 palettes of bricks and we are about to lay them. We've hired a young man who is a very good worker and he has been ever so helpful. Today I (Jay) went to the ophthalmologist's office [...]

Out for a couple of weeks

In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.

On the road again.....

26 August 2016 | Bedwell Harbour
Jay/warm
We relaunched on Tuesday and hung on Vaughn and Rita's mooring for the night. All went well with the new dripless seal. On Wednesday morning we motored to Bedwell Harbour and hung at a mooring. We were going to travel to Cabbage/Tumbo Island but the weather is forecast to blow into the anchorage at 25-30 knots tonight. So....we decided to hang at Bedwell a few more days. We will stay here until Tuesday and then begin our northward journey back to Nanaimo. At present our plan is Tuesday night at Ganges, Wednesday James Bay, Thursday Montague, Friday Wallace Island, Saturday Clam Bay, Sunday Mark Bay and tie up on Monday morning at home port.
Today we went into Port Browning and got some groceries and a few bucks worth of dinghy gas. We'll probably make another grub run on Sunday before we go to Ganges. The pools are warm and the weather is great today. Unfortunately it is forecast for a big cool-down. Daily highs will be less than 20C. Sad to see the season end. But we've had a great time and cannot complain.
