Mothballed!

We have shut down Karina C for the winter. All has been decommissioned. We hope to get Karina C recommissioned in March 2018 and sail off to Olympia WA for our next international cruise. We had a wonderful summer on the boat and hope that 2018 will be even better. During the winter we are going to cruise [...]

Sunset at Wallace Island.
We've had a busy few weeks. Near the end of June, we put 2 coats of cetol on the toerail. We then readied the boat for a week with Tina and David. We took them off to Wallace Island, Montague Harbour, Ganges and then back to Clam Bay. All went well with the lift tank and it looks like it has solved the problem of the motor shutting off at inappropriate times. We spent a few days cleaning up the boat from a heater diesel spill we sustained in the choppy waters in Nothumberland Channel. Once that was fixed, we decided to stay here in town and paint the deck as it was wanting for the past few years. Today, we went to the boat and sanded and TSPed the deck. Tomorrow we will prime. The next 2 days will be redoing the white topsides. One day with regular paint and the next day with non-skid. So that has killed off this week. Next week I am doing weather for a BCA program called VICE (Vancouver Island Cruising Experience) where some BCA boats wil get to experience the great blue Pacific by sailing off to a seamount off the coast of Oregon.
The next week we have a gig and then we swing into action for the Bathtub races. We then head over to Vancouver to take in one of the fireworks and then back to Nanaimo for another BCA rendezvous in early August.
