Day Four

July 8, 2014 We had a good days run of 242 miles in 20 kt breezes. Our concern is that the trade winds are very light and way south so we could get into light air in a couple of days. That could mean a very long race. Everyone is feeling fine and enjoying the fast downwind sailing. Tonight we had a great chicken dinner complements of Peggy Fox. Steve is outstanding in the galley and I am afraid that I will not lose the weight I had hoped to. Jones continues to entertain the crew with his stories. After 15 years of sailing with him I was sure that I had heard them all, but not so. Weather was sunny today but tonight we have a marine layer that brings a chill to the cockpit. The sunshine was welcome to dry the boat out after all the fun yesterday. However a wet boat was worth it for the thrill of surfing a 36,000 pound boat down the waves, microwave and all. Four of the crew got showers and the water maker is being praised. Off to help with the night shift.
