Greek Malady

For those who have been eagerly awaiting my first Hellenic post, you must have been wondering what had happened to my usual prolific outpourings. We started off well when we arrived two weeks ago. The boat is fabulous. As good as we hoped. The previous owner, Nicolaos, has been around to show us how everything works and also put the new sails up which look great. All our 410 kgs of kit arrived and Customs only managed to charge us €180 for importing the plotter. The spinnaker arrived from China. The VHF/AIS radio arrived from UK. The anchor arrived from ... wherever. All going very well. We allowed ourselves a celebratory night out at Taverna Vasilis for the obligatory lamb souvlaki, Greek salad and tzatsiki on Saturday night which was delicious. Sunday I was stricken with the worse does of some sort of gastric flu-norovirus type thing I've ever had in my life and have spent the last week stumbling from bed to the toilet and back! I will spare any more detail but it hasn't been pretty!
I am, however, on the mend and am hoping that next week will be a bit more enjoyable. May even get to go and have a look at Athens. I've heard there's a few old buildings there worth a look.......
