The "most photographed lighthouse in the world", Hope Town, Elbow Cay
Mar 8: We left American Harbor on Man-O-War early so we could run down to one of the snorkeling spots recommended in the cruising guides before pulling into Hope Town later in the day. The spot is just off Tiloo Cay at a string of rocks called Tavern Cay. We got there about 10:30am only to discover that the site is nothing special compared to the places we snorkeled in the Exumas and the Berrys. We quickly turned around and sailed back up to Hope Town, taking up a buoy there at noon.
Hope Town is a beautiful little town full of interesting sights to see especially the last kerosene light lighthouse in the world (Ann says it is actually one of three). I don't have time now to describe it now but we'll be returning to Hope Town several times over the next month and I'll write about it then.
