Clear, breezy and cool
Yesterday I took Margo over to the Des Moines, WA Marina to attend the last Mid Sound Sailing Social for the year and the send-off fot S/V Equus, a Jeaneau 519 who is entered in this year's Vic-Maui race. They depart on 6 July for Victoria, stand their final inspection on the 8th then start on the 10th. They expect to take 12-14 days to complete the race. Equus has been significantly modified for the race, has been fitted with a mutitude of redundant systems and electronics. Even the floorboards have been replaced. Carolyn and I toured the boat, met with the owners and crew and had a wonderful time. I hung around a bit too long, almost dark, for the trip back to Tacoma YC. The trip was pretty chilly, very dark with no moon and a 13-15 knot true wind on the nose. Docked Margo in her berth at 2343, left the boat at 0030 and had a very sleepy drive home. Next time I think I'll take a nap on the boat before heading home.
