I have been trying to get the blog 'back on the road/sea' again for a few weeks now but alas, the massive amount of work we have been doing has prevented this from happening. We are now however on route to Corfu, albeit very slowly! Having finally left Hayling Island on Friday morning, we arrived safely in Portsmouth Harbour and moored at the Hardway Sailing Club where we enjoyed an excellent couple of nights and managed to get the instrument panel completed, steering brake and steering compass fitted. Departing HSC on Sunday morning, we arrived in Cowes at about 3pm and tied up at the Cowes Yacht Haven. The idea was to stop for one night only but the appalling weather on Monday morning soon put pay to this. I mean, getting wet while sailing? Whatever next?! The additional day in Cowes allowed me to install the new battery charging system, a task taking all day, but completed and tested. Now the engine charges all the batteries whilst running, a great improvement and somewhat essential. We headed out from the Solent today via the Needles Lighthouse and a great sail towards Poole Harbour where we are now anchored. A great meal, decent bottle of wine, planning for tomorrow completed, I think it's time for my bed!
