We have finally escaped the marina at Ajaccio. As great a place as it was, 23 days in a marina starts generating 'marina disease' as well as crippling my bank account! I got the all clear from the nurse for my post-op wounds at noon yesterday, a new sailing route planned by 1pm, a big stock up from the Spar shop which delivered to the boat for free (fantastic!), a final frozen yoghurt and an excellent sea bass dinner, again, in the Bar de Pecheurs before returning to the boat, finishing packing and departing the marina just after 8am this morning. A quick refuel stop on the way out and on our way by 9am. There was no wind to speak of so it was a motor all of the way, albeit only 20nm, but a good opportunity to check I was OK at sea again whilst following the nurses' instructions to take it easy! No problems noted and we arrived in Porto Pollo anchorage at 2pm, tied up on a mooring buoy, and have been enjoying an afternoon watching the wind surfing school's attempts at teaching beginners. Brought back a few good memories of me learning to windsurf in Gibraltar many years ago...be prepared to get very wet! So, off to Bonifacio tomorrow for a couple of nights then down the Sardinian east coast, hopefully anchoring all of the way subject to the weather holding out.
