The last 24 hours have felt like three days! Without the autopilot to steer, the manual steering on QUASAR IV is quite heavy when the engine is running due to the new rudder bearing that was installed last year and that has always been a little too tight. At least it doesn't let in any water! Apart from four hours of glorious sailing last night which ended promptly at 1-30am when the wind dropped, we have had to motor all of the way to Malta from Sardinia as there has been insufficient wind to sail. This evening at 9pm, we'll be refueling from onboard cans and adding another 80 litres into the main tank which will be more than enough to get us to our destination which is the Msida Creek Marina in Marsamxett Harbour on the north side of Valetta. Based on our current progress, we are looking at potentially arriving tomorrow morning around 8am, but we'll see, nothing is guaranteed in a sailing boat! Not much to update on today, just engine noise, oil tankers, blue sky and 36 DegC in the saloon. We are all melting and looking forward to showers tomorrow morning!
