Well, it's sunny again and the poor weather has passed, so we are on the move again. This time, to Isle des Saintes, just south of Guadeloupe. The plan is to leave Thursday afternoon and arrive sometime Friday morning, although now that the weather has finally died down, there appears to be very little wind.... So, we may be here a couple more days. Falmouth Harbour is Superyacht City. Mirabella V is here at the moment, the tallest single-masted yacht ever built. It has a mast height of 280 feet against QUASAR IV's of 55 feet! The number of motor cruisers and sheer size of them is astounding - we have never seen anything like it - and I thought there was a recession on. It is clearly not affecting some people! We have been off on a few walks in the hills and reached Shirley Heights on Sunday which gives a fantastic view out over English and Falmouth Harbours, photo to follow. It was well worth the walk up the hill and provided some exercise for the walking boots as well as their occupants! So, a quiet night on board tonight looking at the stars again trying to work out exactly how I can fix my position on the big ocean with the sextant, at night, without the GPS (or any of the 3 spares that might also fail...). It's good fun and makes you realise how many stars there actually are. The human eye can see about 4000 stars from the Earth, but only 57 are bright enough to be useful for navigation. It's just a case of identifying which one is which....Still, a glass of 5 Year Old Antiguan rum, and there are twice as many stars to see and identify...!
